Section 2. Dial-up Networking Setup

In this section, you will need to set up the Dial-up Networking in order to dial-in to Network Konnection. If this is not already installed from your Windows 95 disks or CD-ROM, you must do so now. After installing the Dial-Up Networking, follow the instructions below to configure it.

1) Open the Dial-up Networking folder (Start->Accessories->Dial-up Networking).

2) Double-click on Make New Connection.

3) Enter Network Konnection into the Name for the computer you are dialing field.

4) In the Select a modem field, make sure that the modem that you have installed is selected.

If no modem drivers are installed, then click Install Modem and install the appropriate driver. Then Click on Configure.

9) Windows will now confirm the creation of the new connection. Click Finish to continue and a new icon should appear in the Dial-Up Networking folder (window) called Network Konnection.

To create a shortcut from your desktop, drag the new icon to the desktop from the Dial-Up Networking window. Windows will tell you that you can not copy the icon to the desktop. Click Yes to create the shortcut.

11) Click (using the LEFT mouse button) on Properties in the menu and a configuration window will appear for the connection.

12) Click on the Server Type button.

13) Make sure that PPP is the selected protocol. In the Advanced options make sure that Log on to network does not have a check mark and that Enable Software Compression does and Require encrypted password does not have check mark.

14) In the allowed network protocols section only place a check mark next to TCP/IP. NetBEUI and IPX/SPX compatible should not have check marks.

15) Click on TCP/IP Settings…

16) Make sure that Server assigned IP address is selected.

17) Click on Specify name server address and enter 63.140.32.3 into the Primary DNS field and 63.140.32.4 into the secondary DNS field.
