Setting Up Internet Explorer 4.X

We are now going to setup the email in Internet Explorer. You will not be online so that you can ignore any network error messages and click OK on them.

  1. Start up Internet Explorer (usually from the Start menu). If your dialler program pops up, please click cancel.
  2. Click the Stop button to stop Explorer from loading.
  3. In the menu bar at the top, Click on View, then click on Internet Options from the pull-down menu.
  4. Click on the Navigation tab and make sure that Home Page Location selected with the radio button under Start With in the Startup box. Enter http://www.netkonnect.net/ into the field below Home Page Location.
  5. Click OK.
  6. In the menu bar at the top of Explorer, pull down Go and select Mail, Outlook Express window will open.
  7. *** If some other program beside Outlook Express opens, please close the program that opened and follow Step 3 above and choose the Programs Tab from the Internet Options Window. Next click on the down arrow in the Mail program box and choose Outlook Express. If this choice is not given please call Network Konnection for technical support.

  8. In the menu bar at the top of Outlook Express, pull down Tools and select Accounts.
  9. Outlook Express can use multiple mail accounts, so please click on the account that you would like to set up. Then Click on properties; a window will open up.
  10. In the new window under the General tab, please enter your name, as you would like others to see it when you send email. Enter you email name in the E-mail address block. The organization name and reply-to addresses are optional.
  11. Click on the Servers tab and enter nki001.netkonnect.net into the Outgoing SMTP Server AND Incoming POP Server fields.
  12. Enter your Login Name (All lowercase) that you supplied to Network Konnection, when you signed-up, into the Account Name field.
  13. Enter your password (All lowercase) in the password field.
  14. Do not choose Login using secure password authentication.
  15. Click OK to accept values.
  16. Exit Internet.
